Social Growth Engineers

Payments and product data on one page, with monthly and weekly views, refreshed by itself every Monday morning.

A diagram of the dashboard: Stripe and Amplitude feed one private page, with a check after each refresh.

How it works, drawn for this page. No client data.

The company

Social Growth Engineers is a media site about organic marketing and social growth, with a free plan and a paid Pro plan. Its revenue lives in Stripe and its product data lives in Amplitude.

The brief

  • See revenue, subscriptions and churn without exporting from Stripe.
  • Put the product numbers from Amplitude next to them.
  • Keep it up to date without anyone doing it by hand.

What I did

Two sources, one page

The Amplitude charts are live: they ask Amplitude for fresh numbers every time the page opens. The Stripe figures come from saved files, because the account does not have Stripe's own reporting add-on.

It refreshes itself

A scheduled task rebuilds the Stripe files every Monday at 7:00. If the computer is off at that time, it runs as soon as it is back on.

Checked, and private

After each refresh a check confirms that every number on the page is filled in. Customer IDs stay in the raw exports and never reach the page.

What came of it

Results.

Revenue, subscriptions and churn on one page, with monthly and weekly views
Stripe data refreshed automatically every Monday at 7:00, and Amplitude live on every visit
No customer details on the page

Figures belong to this engagement and this client. Nothing here is an average or a benchmark, and no number appears without the work behind it described above.

What I took from it

A dashboard nobody has to update is one people keep using. The refresh mattered as much as the charts.
